The deal comes through Catalyst Brands, a retail powerhouse with nearly 1,800 stores, 60,000 employees, and around $9 billion in revenue. The company plans to deploy Figure’s humanoid robots at its Nevada distribution center, where they will handle physically demanding supply-chain tasks.
While humanoid robots working in real businesses once sounded like science fiction, the industry is moving at lightning speed. Just a few years ago, only one humanoid robot had a commercial job. Now, companies worldwide are competing to automate warehouses and factories with AI-powered machines.
Figure says the robots will focus on routine and repetitive logistics work, allowing human workers to shift toward more valuable and skilled roles. However, the announcement has sparked a heated debate online.
Many social media users reacted with concern, fearing that robots could eventually replace human jobs. Some even questioned whether shoppers would support businesses increasingly dependent on automation. Others argued that technology has always changed industries and created new opportunities over time.
Interestingly, Figure has not yet revealed exactly how many robots will be deployed, when operations will begin, or whether the arrangement involves direct purchases or a subscription-style robotics service.
The bigger question remains: Are humanoid robots becoming co-workers—or future competitors? As AI and robotics continue evolving, companies and governments may soon face difficult conversations about employment, productivity, and the future of work itself.
